eligibility & boundaries

To play with DeMotte Little League, you must meet ONE of four criteria:

1. School Eligibility: Players are automatically eligible if they attend a school within our boundaries, which include:

  • DeMotte Elementary School
  • Kankakee Valley Intermediate School
  • Kankakee Valley Middle School
  • DeMotte Christian School
  • Covenant Christian High School
  • Most Rensselaer area schools

2. Residence Eligibility: Players are automatically eligible if either of their parents or legal guardians lives within our boundaries.  Check residence eligibility at https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/league-finder/

3. Waiver:  If neither of the above criteria are met, we can consider requesting a waiver.  Waiver will be granted routinely if a player has previously lived in or attended a school within our boundaries but has now moved to a new residence or school; or if they are the sibling of such a player.  Otherwise, waivers are not guaranteed and typically require consent of the league where the player's parents reside or where the player attends school. The processing time can be several weeks, so please request this well before the end of the registration window.  Many waivers, if granted, will grant the player eligibility for the rest of their Little League career, but will not allow the player to participate in All-Star tournaments for their first year.

4. Regulation II:  Starting with the 2025 season, children at the youngest level of the Little League Baseball and Softball program (League Age 4-7) throughout the United States will have the ability to register for any Little League program they choose, without respect to any geography- or school-related eligibility requirements. Those players who register under this option will also be fully eligible to participate in all aspects of league play, including International Tournament play, for the duration of their Little League careers provided they have continuous and unbroken participation from the time they are League Age seven within the specific league where initially registered and provided all other participation eligibility requirements have been met.
